The Logika Cut-to-Length (CTL) system is the next evolution of the continuous-caster cut-to-length process.
Utilizing a combination of Logika software and hardware, Logika CTL can provide accuracy of +/- 0.25 inches (+/- 6mm), far surpassing legacy encoder or flag systems.

System Overview
It all starts with the software. Logika’s in-house CTL software interfaces with a Gig-E camera to track the head end and speed of up to 6 strands simultaneously. When a strand reaches the appropriate length, a signal is sent to the cutting torches to proceed with the cut. That’s right – depending on the runout table setup, typically only one camera is necessary to see all strands. Software is only as good as the hardware that allows it to function. To that end, our Gig-E machine vision cameras are packaged in the same mill-hardened casings used in the harshest environments imaginable. Some might say that it’s overkill to use a housing designed to look into an EAF for our CTL, but to Logika, that’s just extra protection for utmost reliability.
Lastly, optional laser rangefinders integrate with the CTL system to provide real-time home position of the torch cutters, allowing the system to compensate for variances in torch cutter home position and provide an accurate cut signal, every time.
CTL systems ship ready to go with ModbusTCP protocol. Different protocols can be optioned to work with your mill’s specific PLCs.
